RadianTrust Wins APICTA Security Application Award
5 December 2007, Singapore – Leading IT security service provider, RadianTrust, has won the Seventh Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) in the Security Category for its patented flagship product, Phidélity. This was the first time APICTA was held in Singapore.
Phidélity, an Optical Document Security solution, had emerged the winner in the APICTA Security Application Award after facing off nine competitors from Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Pakistan and Australia. The award was presented last Thursday by Ms. Yong Ying-I, Deputy Chairman of Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
Phidélity enables conventional printers, using ordinary paper and ink to embed optical watermarks as well as other unique security technologies such as SecureCode, Micro-print, Print Control and ID-Tracing through steganographic techniques.
Since its inception, RadianTrust has focused on security solutions and has provided consulting and IT security services for various businesses in the public, legal, trade, logistics and healthcare sectors. Phidélity is a patented product that serves as an end-to-end solution to enhance authentication, enforce integrity and provide traceability of printed paper documents.
Counterfeiting, forgery and unauthorised disclosure, is estimated to cost the global economy as much as $700 billion annually because it touches virtually every industry and market. According to law enforcement and business trade groups, counterfeiters today have access to technologies that can mimic and produce replicas verbatim to the original and are using them to defraud consumers, businesses and governments worldwide on an unprecedented scale.
On winning the award, RadianTrust’s General Manager, Tang Weng Sing said, “This is a significant award for us. It provides Phidélity with a new and commanding presence in the document securities market, which is now focused like never before on rising issues of anti-counterfeiting and fraud. With this award, we have greater confidence of expanding our stronghold not only in Singapore but around the region in our target verticals.”
He also added that RadianTrust was exploring the integration of Digital Rights Management solutions with Phidélity, from softcopy to hardcopy, whilst looking at other areas for innovation. “Besides continually working to ensure that the latest hardware, such as mobile phones, is supported by our solution, we are also committed to enhancing Phidélity’s suite of features by incorporating more functionality that strengthens document securities. One of these examples is the ID-Trace feature, which employs the use of steganography to insert a traceable fingerprint into printed documents for verification of original document holder’s identity at a later stage.”
The yearly international awards programme, initiated by the Multimedia Development Corporation of Malaysia, consists of 16 member-economies including Australia, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
